Chink in the armor?
Is Barack going to eventually buckle in the crucible of the moment and shatter his carefully crafted “uniter” persona?
What was especially noteworthy about his Virginia speech were the diversions Obama took from the prepared text. Because of Obama’s improvised moments, this speech was different than the usual fare he offers. We didn’t get the normal dosages of post-partisanship or even “elevation.” Virtually every time Obama deviated from the text, he expressed the partisan anger that has so poisoned the Democratic party. His spontaneous comments eschewed the conciliatory and optimistic tone that has made the Obama campaign such a phenomenon. It looked like the spirit of John Edwards or Howard Dean had possessed Obama every time he vamped. While Paul Krugman probably loved it, this different Obama was a far less attractive one.
This is entirely possible, indeed probable, if it’s just Clintonian triangulation. I’m not so sure, though, that it will make any difference in the general, much less in the primary. He’s already proven deft enough in the Democrat debates. He’s comfortable in his own skin, and the lack of a teleprompter in an age of T.V. when the T.V. culture is so thoroughly enamored of him is not something he’ll ever have to worry about. Besides, John McCain with a teleprompter is less inspiring than a rusted-out Pinto. Obama likely could read Shel Silverstein poems and win a general against McCain in a walk.
FWIW Update:

Obama is Jimmy Carter on steroids when it comes to policy, but he is Bill Clinton without baggage on the personal side.
Obama is a Bolshevik. He’s not even a socialist. He’s a bomb-throwing communist that will enervate our military, put us at the mercy of who knows how many totalitarian regimes and suck the life out of our economy. And he’ll do all of this thinking he’s doing to the right thing.
At least Bill Clinton knew enough to stay out of the way of the economy. I don’t think Obama will do that. He’ll get both hands in the middle of it. I really think we’ll see the dawn of a new age of socialist, statist policies like price controls and massive new subsidies.
And McCain won’t beat this guy. The RNC establishment has functionally put Obama into office through good-ole-boy deals and cronyism. Time to clean house and start all over again if we want real conservatism to have a home in the Republican party.
So sad… I’m actually hoping Hillary beats this guy.

Isn’t it something… staunch conservatives who are trying to figure out which of the democrat candidates they would prefer as President. So I’m not alone in the assumption that the donkeys will take the White House, huh?
S’okay. God’s in control. And we got Ronald Reagan after Jimmy Carter. That’s my mantra.
